TECHNICAL SUPPORT

This page contains the links to download all the documents and software updates that Robot Factory provides the user; a series of important documents and Technical Notes, to get a complete knowledge of the proper procedures for using the printing system and a good command of all phases of the process of 3D printing.

WARNING for users of 3DLPRINTER model.

Since there are significant differences, on projector and on Firmware, between the 3DLPRINTER model and the subsequent models, 3DLPRINTER-HD and 3DLPRINTER-HD 2.0, not all the contents of this page are valid  for the 3DLPRINTER model.

It is advisable, therefore, to contact us (via email) before performing any action described on this page. In particular, the sections “FIRMWARE UPDATE” and “SOFTWARE UPDATE”  absolutely NOT are apply for the 3DLPRINTER model.

INSTRUCTIONS TO UNPACK THE PRINTER:

These following are the links to download the instructions for unpacking the package that you will receive, when you buy one of our 3D printers, we highly recommend you to follow the instructions in these manuals:

SERVICE REQUEST SHEET (July 2014)

as we found very difficult to provide assistance, because in emails sent to us, more often lack the information necessary to understand and solve the problem, in order to be able to give better service to the users of Robot Factory printers, you can report a problem on using of the printer, only filling in the “Service_Request_sheet” in all its parts.

This is to enable us to immediately receive all the information that we might need for a first analysis of the problem and possibly reproduce the problem in our lab, if required by a more thorough analysis of the problem.

We emphasize that, in the case where the problem is related to the results of a print, it is very important that, in addition to the aforesaid form, there is provided the file .stl used for printing, and possibly also some pictures of the object obtained in printing, but if the problem is related to the management software of the printer, in addition to the above form, it is important to provide screen shots (capture screen) of any messages received by the software.

The form of assistance is available (in Italian and English) on our server at:

It is recommended to send as the form that any attachments in a compressed format (.zip, .rar, etc..), and whether the file .stl or photos are very big, it is required to not attach them directly to email, but load them on one of those sites that allow you to send large files (for example WeTransfer, etc.).

TECHNICAL NOTES from 01 to 09 (with files of  Technical Note 09)

The use of the printers must be done by experienced staff, which has understood the operation and can operate safely.

The technical notes can be downloaded from this link:

We advise all our customers to carefully read the advise contained in it.

OUR RESINS (January 2015)
there are three different types of resins, developed and manufactured for use with our printers of 3DLPrinter series.

A document of description and presentation of resins, it is available from this link:

It is very important to read this document before using the resin, because it contains also an indication on exposure times required for printing.

ADAPTER KIT (November 2014)

Installation instructions for Upgrade Kit, for using Vat HD 2.0 on 3DLPrinter or 3DLPrinter-HD model:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REFILL SILIGEL VAT 2.0 (August 2014)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPLACING PMMA-UV WITH GLASS (September 2014)

procedura per inserimento del vetro sulla vaschetta della resina dei modelli 3DLPRINTER e 3DLPRINTER-HD:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR GLASS REPLACEMENT CONSTRUCTION BASE 2.0 (October 2014)

Procedure for replacing the glass on the construction base of the printer, available on link:

BRIGHTNESS AND CONTRAST OF PROJECTOR (October 2014)

procedure for changing brightness and contrast of projector for 3DLPRINTER-HD and 3DLPRINTER-HD 2.0:

FRACTURE OR ‘CRACKS’ (May 2015)

SOME customers have reported that sometimes the molded part may be some ‘cracks’ in the resin. This is a phenomenon that can occur for various reasons and with different effects, depending on the causes that may have caused, but in general is due to the fact that the resin used with printers stereo-lithographic mainly consists of a photosensitive polymer and a catalyst.

At the following link, there is a document that analyzes the problem:

DIRECT INVESTMENT CASTING.

This the link to download the recommended burnout ramp:

From this link you can download the burnout ramp recommended by the manufacturer of Plasticast
and the curve recommended for ‘Gold Star Omega’, finally (Burn cycle.pdf) is recommended by one of our customers.

Another advice we can give is to use a barrier liquid for resin casting (for example: PROCAD GRS, you can see from link:

From the following link, instead, you can download a document, on the different results obtained by ‘direct casting’ of the resin models produced with stereolithography 3D printers:

In it are very well highlighted the following experimental findings:

– the casting is influenced by several parameters, recognized to highly influence the final result, among them the main are investment powder composition, water/powder ratio in the investing process and the burn-out cycle
– the result may be affected by the placement of objects on the tree: in general, the result is better placing light objects (high area/volume index) at the top and heavy objects (low area/volume index) at the bottom
– surface quality worsens in case of no ventilation in the furnace.
